Diseases affecting these vessels can lead to serious health problems by preventing organs from receiving enough blood and oxygen. Under the title of <strong>arterial diseases<\/strong>, the five most common arterial conditions will be discussed: <strong>atherosclerosis<\/strong> (hardening of the arteries), <strong>arterial occlusion<\/strong> (blockage), <strong>aneurysm<\/strong> (vessel ballooning), <strong>peripheral artery disease<\/strong>, and <strong>carotid artery disease<\/strong> (disease of the carotid artery). Each disease is explained in simple language that patients can easily understand, including what it is, its symptoms, who is most at risk, diagnostic methods, and treatment options. This condition narrows the inner diameter of the arteries and reduces blood flow. Atherosclerosis typically develops slowly over the years and can affect all arteries in the body. It most often appears in the coronary arteries that supply the heart, increasing the risk of heart attack. It is also a very common vascular disease that can lead to serious problems such as stroke and peripheral artery disease. Atherosclerosis is more frequently seen in older adults, men, and individuals with risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and The main symptoms include:<\/p><ul><li><p><strong>Chest pain (angina):<\/strong> Burning or pressure-like pain in the center of the chest that occurs with exertion and resolves with rest (if the heart arteries are affected). In advanced stages, chest pain may even occur at rest, or a <strong>heart attack<\/strong> can develop directly.<\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>Leg pain:<\/strong> Cramping pain and fatigue in the calf muscles while walking (a sign of <strong>peripheral artery disease<\/strong> if the leg arteries are affected). This pain subsides with rest, but as arterial narrowing progresses, pain occurs over shorter distances.<\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>Stroke symptoms:<\/strong> If there is significant narrowing of the brain arteries, signs of a transient ischemic attack or <strong>stroke<\/strong> may appear. For example, neurological symptoms such as numbness or weakness on one side of the body, speech disturbances, or vision loss may develop.<\/p><\/li><li><p>In many cases, atherosclerosis may not cause noticeable symptoms for a long time. Sometimes, the first sign can be a serious event like a heart attack or stroke.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element data-end=\"442\"><strong data-start=\"260\" data-end=\"276\">Heart tests:<\/strong> Examinations such as ECG (electrocardiogram), stress test, or cardiac ultrasound (ECHO) may be performed to evaluate the degree of involvement of the heart arteries.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"443\" data-end=\"761\" data-is-last-node=\"\"><p data-start=\"445\" data-end=\"761\" data-is-last-node=\"\"><strong data-start=\"445\" data-end=\"457\">Imaging:<\/strong> Color <strong data-start=\"464\" data-end=\"486\">Doppler ultrasound<\/strong> can be used to visualize the condition of the arteries.
